Lynn Hanson juxtaposes charcoal and graphite drawings of animals against a backdrop of vintage maps and blueprints for a startlingly fresh take on animal art. She also has a unique eye for photography and has explored chlorophyll prints. Join us for the Opening Reception of our Annual Competition, July 15, 3 to 5 p.m. Meet the photographers and enjoy the award presentation. From their bark and leaves to their ecosystems and inhabitants, each tree is unique. The tri-counties (Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County and Ventura County) are home to a diverse range of tree species that make our landscape beautiful. For our 2017 Nature Photography Competition we asked photographers to explore the life cycle of trees, those who call it home, the threats they face, and their individuality. 7/13 - PCPA receives National Endowment for the Arts grant ... Pacific Conservatory Theatre was awarded a $10,000 Arts Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Selected from among performing arts companies across the country, PCPA was one of 133 organizations to receive national recognition for its work from the NEA. The grant will provide support for PCPA’s production of Fences (September 15-October 1) through residencies for actor Derrick Lee Weeden, as Troy Maxson, and director Timothy Bond. The grant also funds both Bond and Weeden to instruct master classes for PCPA’s Conservatory programs, YPP Fall Intensives, and to lead workshops in partnership with local high schools, and to participate in public talk-back sessions and pre-show interviews.
